EcoPro BM, one of South Korea's leading producers of cathode materials for electric-vehicle batteries, has approved a rights issue worth 1.2 trillion won (approximately $870m) to accelerate its international expansion.
The board signed off on the fundraising plan on 30th June 2026. Proceeds will be directed primarily towards two projects: securing nickel raw material supply chains in Indonesia, and expanding cathode active material production facilities in Hungary.
Indonesia holds the world's largest proven nickel reserves, and EcoPro BM is working to establish a local supply network that would reduce its dependence on third-party raw material suppliers. The Hungarian plant, meanwhile, is intended to serve as the company's main production hub for the European electric-vehicle battery market.
EcoPro BM said the principal objectives of the investment are to stabilise supplies of critical raw materials for cathode production and to diversify its manufacturing base geographically.
