LG Electronics has launched the 2026 model of its LG Trom AI Objet Collection WashCombo, an integrated washer-dryer that handles both washing and drying in a single drum. In June, the product won the grand prize in the AI Innovation category at the 2026 Korea Innovation Awards, organised by the Korean Standards Association. Marketed on the strength of its record-breaking capacity — the largest of any all-in-one washer-dryer sold in South Korea — the machine is squarely aimed at households with heavy and frequent laundry demands.
Specifications
The headline figures are a 25kg wash load and a 21kg drying capacity, both firsts for the domestic all-in-one segment. The machine handles the full cycle from wash to dry without requiring the user to transfer clothes between separate appliances. LG has paired this with what it calls "AI Wash & Dry Total Care," designed to reduce the familiar frustrations of mid-cycle interruptions and repeated checks on drying progress.
The centrepiece AI feature is "AI Time Sensing." Within three seconds of the drum beginning its initial rotation after loading, the machine detects the weight of the laundry and provides an estimated cycle duration. A complementary function, "Drying AI Time Guidance," learns from the user's habits over time to refine its drying estimates, with accuracy improving the more the machine is used.
Additional conveniences are worth noting. A 4kg Mini Wash compartment is built into the unit, allowing small loads of delicate or separate items to be run independently of the main drum. A single seven-inch display controls both the main machine and the Mini Wash, eliminating the need to manage two separate interfaces. LG says the product was developed around real customer complaints — covering cycle times, lint, capacity, and installation space — and a flat design aesthetic has been applied to help the unit sit unobtrusively within a room.
Strengths and limitations
The machine's most compelling proposition is the combination of outsize capacity and AI-assisted planning. The AI Time Sensing function, which delivers a time estimate before the cycle even begins in earnest, addresses a mundane but genuine irritant: not knowing how long to wait once the machine is running. The integrated Mini Wash is similarly practical, resolving two distinct needs — bulk washing and small separate loads — within a single product footprint.
The limitations are real, however. A machine claiming South Korea's largest capacity inevitably comes with significant physical dimensions and demanding installation requirements. The AI time-prediction feature also presupposes a learning period: in early use, before the system has accumulated sufficient data on a household's patterns, accuracy may fall short of expectations. And as with Samsung's competing Bespoke AI Combo, the structural constraint common to all-in-one washer-dryers remains: drying cannot run concurrently with washing, which limits throughput compared with a two-machine setup.
