Introduction

Samsung Electronics has launched its 2026 Bespoke AI AirDresser — a garment-care appliance that sanitises, deodorises, and de-wrinkles clothing using steam and airflow, without washing or tumble-drying. The new model leads with a significantly more powerful wrinkle-removal function and enhanced artificial-intelligence features, positioning itself as "a new standard in clothing care."

Specifications

The headline addition is a mode Samsung calls "Intensive Wrinkle Care." Hang a garment inside and the machine deploys steam at higher temperatures and airflow twice as strong as the previous generation, smoothing out creases while simultaneously eliminating odours. Users can choose between 15-, 25-, and 35-minute cycles depending on how badly wrinkled the item is. The machine also offers "Dual Air Wash" — a powerful air blast that dislodges dust and particulate matter from inside and outside clothing — and "Dual Jet Steam," which combines high-temperature steam to sanitise, deodorise, and remove wrinkles in a single cycle. Samsung claims the unit eliminates 99.99% of seasonal viruses, bacteria, and dust mites, and removes 99% of common odours including food smells, perspiration, and cigarette smoke.

The centrepiece of the AI upgrade is "AI Custom Drying." Unlike a tumble dryer, the AirDresser has no direct sensor contact with the fabric, so its algorithm works by measuring humidity indirectly within the cabinet. Sensors monitor moisture evaporating from garments in real time, and the AI analyses the pattern of that initial humidity change to determine the optimal drying time for the heat pump — shortening cycles to save energy when garments are lightly damp, and extending them when clothes are wetter.

On convenience, the most notable feature is course-linking with Samsung's washing appliances. When a cycle finishes on a Bespoke AI washing machine, that data is automatically shared with the AirDresser, which then selects the optimal care programme for those specific garments without any manual input. Shirts or blouses requiring particular attention need only be transferred from the washer to the AirDresser — drying and wrinkle care follow automatically.

The appliance is available in four colour options — Crystal Mirror, Soapstone Charcoal, Soapstone Platinum, and Clean White — and accommodates up to nine garments simultaneously. Recommended retail prices range from 2,049,000 won to 2,499,000 won depending on specification, representing an increase of roughly 400,000 won over last year's large-capacity models (which were priced at 1,899,000–2,099,000 won). Samsung is running a trade-in promotion offering 200,000 reward points when customers return an existing unit.

Strengths and Limitations

The machine's most compelling practical argument is that it can replace a handheld steam iron. Conventional steam irons require lengthy warm-up times and are tiring to use; the AirDresser's fully automated approach demands nothing more than hanging the garment inside, making it genuinely useful on a rushed morning. The course-linking with Samsung's washing machines is also a meaningful differentiator — though one available only within Samsung's own appliance ecosystem.

Price remains the obvious limitation. A 400,000-won increase on the large-capacity model is substantial, and the top-specification unit nudges close to 2.5m won, confirming that garment-care appliances remain a high-barrier premium category. The AI drying and course-linking features also deliver their full value only when paired with Samsung washers and dryers; households running appliances from other brands will find those benefits largely inaccessible.

Verdict

The Bespoke AI AirDresser makes a clear and coherent value proposition: liberation from the labour of ironing. Its humidity-sensor-based AI drying and cross-appliance course-linking go beyond merely freshening clothes — they offer a glimpse of the automated home-appliance ecosystem Samsung is working to build. Yet that convenience commands a definite premium, and consumers outside Samsung's ecosystem may struggle to justify it in full.
