tripleS is a 24-member multinational girl group under Modhaus, a Seoul-based entertainment label. The group debuted on 13th February 2023 and comprises the following members: Yoon Seolyeon, Jung Hyerin, Lee Jiwoo, Kim Chaeyeon, Kim Yooyeon, Kim Sumin, Kim Nakyoung, Gong Yubin, Kaede, Seo Dahyun, Kotone, Kwak Yeonjin, Nien, Park Sohyun, Xinyu, Mayu, Lynn, Jooeun, Jung Hayeon, Park Sion, Kim Chaewon, Sullin, Seoah, and Jiwoo — 24 members in total. Their fanbase goes by the name WAV.

Origins and Structure

What sets tripleS apart from virtually every other idol act is a unit system the group calls "DIMENSION." Rather than debuting all 24 members simultaneously as a single ensemble, the group has expanded incrementally: small subunits are formed in sequence, each releasing their own material under a distinct musical identity and visual concept. Units formed to date include sun, neptune, zenith, and moon, each operating as a self-contained creative project within the broader tripleS universe.

The group's leadership model is equally unconventional. tripleS has no permanent overall leader. Instead, each time a full-group album is released — roughly once a year — a process called "Gravity" is used to select a leader for the coming cycle, who serves until the next full-group release. Yoon Seolyeon held the position in 2025; Jiwoo currently holds it in 2026. Across the group's history, eight different members have served as unit leaders, reflecting a system in which leadership is deliberately rotational rather than fixed.

A third defining feature is participatory fandom. tripleS was designed from the outset to allow fans a meaningful degree of influence over content direction and group activities — a bottom-up approach that diverges sharply from the top-down planning model that characterises most of the K-pop industry.

Recent Developments

On 1st June, tripleS released Part 1 — subtitled "LOVE" — of their full-group studio album *ASSEMBLE26 LOVE & POP*. The seven-track record includes the lead single "Baby Flower" alongside "Sad Girls Schemin'", "Peer", "Type of Girl", and three further tracks. The year's schedule is structured around two full-group campaigns: the "Love Side" in the first half and the "Pop Side" in the second. Part 2, "POP", is due on 20th October, with a Japanese edition, Part 3, to follow in January next year.

Subunit activity continues in parallel. The unit moon, formed in September last year, made a small piece of group history: along with sun, neptune, and zenith, it became the first unit in which every member was legally an adult at the time of formation. Managing 24 people across multiple simultaneous subunit schedules while also staging full-group campaigns is itself a logistical statement of intent. A world tour, "ANDLESS", is also scheduled to begin on 10th October, meaning units, full-group promotions, and live touring will overlap throughout the remainder of the year.

Challenges Ahead

The central question facing tripleS is whether its experimental architecture can be sustained over the long term. Splitting a 24-member group into subunits generates variety and keeps the group in the public eye across multiple fronts, but it is a resource-intensive model: building individual unit recognition to anything approaching the profile of the full group takes considerable time and investment. The rotating-leader system, meanwhile, carries a risk of its own — annual changes at the top could complicate efforts to maintain a coherent group identity over time.

Nevertheless, tripleS has attracted sustained attention precisely because it is willing to break with the established conventions of the idol industry. Whether its unit system and participatory model can translate into durable long-term brand equity — and whether the logistically demanding combination of unit schedules, full-group releases, and international touring can continue to run smoothly — are the questions that will define the group's next chapter.
